How it works

  1. Show us where your jobs come from

Your last 50 jobs by postal code, your average ticket and your close rate. In Toronto, those three numbers tell us which neighbourhoods and which niches are worth fighting for.

  2. Pick the fights you can win

We map the searches, towers and commercial buyers where a business your size can realistically get ahead, and put the monthly cost in writing before anything starts.

  3. Talk it through with a person

No sales funnel and no junior account rep. Call, text or email; you'll talk to a senior strategist.

Services

Five services, and how to decide which one your Toronto business needs first

Toronto is a hard place to market a trade. Almost every service you offer has dozens of competitors within a short drive, many of them with bigger ad budgets and older websites that Google already trusts. Toronto.Marketing exists to help smaller and mid-sized service businesses win anyway, by choosing the neighbourhoods, niches and buyers where they can get ahead, and then doing the unglamorous work properly.

The Toronto problem, stated plainly

The city is big enough that "Toronto" is not really one market. It is 158 official neighbourhoods across six former municipalities, and a homeowner in Long Branch searching for a plumber sees different map results from a condo owner near Yonge and Bloor searching for the same thing.

That has two consequences most owners miss:

  • You can't rank everywhere, and you don't need to. Google's own help page lists distance from the searcher as one of three main local ranking factors, alongside relevance and prominence. Trying to appear first across the whole city is the most common way Toronto trades waste money.
  • Paid clicks are priced by the competition, not by your margins. When many companies bid on the same phrase, the price climbs to whatever the most aggressive bidder will tolerate. If you don't know your own break-even cost per lead, you'll pay theirs.

So the first job is not "more marketing". It is deciding where to compete, and then refusing to spend outside those lines.

Two niches that reward specialists: condos and commercial

Toronto's housing stock is unusual. In the 2021 Census, 46.7% of the city's occupied private dwellings were apartments in buildings of five or more storeys, and only 23.3% were single-detached houses. For many trades that means the customer is not a homeowner with a driveway. It is a suite owner who needs building approval, a superintendent who controls access, or a property manager who hires one vendor for a whole portfolio.

Those buyers decide differently, and very few Toronto service companies market to them properly. That gap is where a focused business can grow:

What we do, and what we never do

Our part is the marketing that makes the phone ring, plus straight advice to owners about pricing, positioning and which areas to grow into. We don't hold tools, take jobs or dispatch anyone; your crews do the work, and we make sure the right people find them.

Our five services each have their own page on the services hub:

  1. Local SEO and Google Business Profile for the neighbourhoods you can actually reach.
  2. Google Ads and Local Services Ads with a cost ceiling worked out from your job value.
  3. Condo and high-rise marketing.
  4. Commercial and property-manager marketing.
  5. Websites built for conversion, with neighbourhood proof and one clear next step.

A quick sum worth doing before you hire anyone

Here is the arithmetic we run in the first conversation. Use your own numbers.

Your number Example
Average job value $1,200
Gross margin on that job 40%, so $480
Share of leads that become jobs 30%
Most you can pay per lead and break even $480 × 0.30 = $144

If Google is charging you $180 for each lead in a particular neighbourhood, that neighbourhood is losing you money, however busy it makes the phone. Change any one of the three inputs, a higher ticket, a better close rate or a recurring service agreement, and the ceiling moves. Our guide to Toronto ad budgets walks through the full method.

Proof, and how to read it honestly

Our published case studies are results from our HVAC work; Ali Sedighi has built more than 150 live HVAC websites. CombiBoiler.ca reached 300% ROI, with over 300 leads a month and more than 500 first-page positions on combi-boiler searches. Organic traffic to Roma Heating & Cooling rose 400% over 12 months.

Those are heating results, not plumbing or cleaning results, and we won't pretend otherwise. What transfers is the method: narrow targeting, honest measurement and pages written for the actual buyer. The results page explains which parts carry over to other trades.

Who is behind this

Behind this site is the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group, a Canadian group of companies with its headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia. Ali Sedighi, MBA, leads it; his digital marketing work goes back to 2007, more than 17 years. The Trades.Agency family, which this site belongs to, is the group's home for trades marketing; you can read more about how we work and who we are.

When you get in touch, you reach a senior strategist rather than a sales team. Call, text or email with your trade, the neighbourhoods you serve and what is not working; you'll get a straight answer, including "this isn't worth your money" if that is the honest one.

Frequently asked questions

What is Toronto.Marketing?

It's a Canadian marketing and business consulting service built for Toronto trades and local service firms. It's owned by the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group, whose head office is in Vancouver, BC, and Ali Sedighi, MBA, leads it.

Are you a contractor or a referral service?

Neither. We don't install, repair, clean or service anything, and we don't sell your leads to other companies. We plan and run marketing for your business and advise you on growth.

Can a small company really compete in Toronto search?

Yes, if it stops trying to rank for the whole city. Search results for local services shift with the searcher's location, so a three-truck company that dominates six neighbourhoods often out-earns a larger rival spread thinly across all 158.

Do you only work with HVAC companies?

No. Our published case studies are results from our HVAC work, because that is where the group's portfolio began, but this site serves Toronto trades and local service businesses of every kind, including condo and commercial specialists.

What does it cost?

Month-to-month plans begin at $1,999, dropping to $1,499 a month if you pay annually, with 13% HST on top. Ad spend is separate and goes straight to Google. Eligible trades businesses get the first half-hour consultation at no charge.

Your office is in Vancouver. Why does that matter less than it sounds?

The work is done in search platforms, ad accounts and your website, and every recommendation is checked against Toronto search results for the neighbourhoods you serve. What matters is that you can reach us by call, text or email and get a straight answer.
